Several self-healing protocols utilizing virtual paths have been proposed in the literature. Those which work in a mesh topology function according to three main rerouting strategies (though differences in the specific flooding administrations): local rerouting, source-destination rerouting, and local-destination rerouting. The most self-healing protocols performance studies have taken as sole metric mainly the restoration time. This must be within the 2s threshold in order to guarantee service continuity. This one-sided metric needs to be completed. In this paper, we propose an extended goodness metric framework, so that we may catch more performance aspects. Besides, we use survivability functions to measure the performance of rerouting strategies.
